          Biography

          Exhibitions

I have had the pleasure of exhibiting my photographic and textile art at Copper Shade Tree Gallery in Round Top, TX,  Main Street Gallery in Tyler, TX,  and Luminarte Gallery and Muzeion Gallery in Dallas, TX.  I have also participated in an exhibition with the Texas Visual Arts Association in Dallas.

          Education

My art education began with seven years of individualized study and practice of various fine art techniques.  During this time, I received a Social Work degree and a Master’s degree in Psychology.  Photography became an added interest and then the world of textiles as I turned to fiber art.  Workshops with nationally known fiber artists furthered my knowledge of color and design.  I then incorporated digital photography into my art textiles.

          Artist Statement

Currently I specialize in photographic pigment prints that reflect my love of color, shape  and texture.  My process begins with photographing objects in nature that initially look rather bland, but have interesting shapes.  Next, I use digital processes to add vibrant color that changes the photograph to the “Wow!” stage.  I also soften the image so that it resembles a painting as much as a photograph.  The image is then printed with archival pigments on canvas or paper.  It is gratifying to take the viewer to a personal level of enjoyment and meaning. I am very drawn to nature, nostalgia and interesting “overlooked” objects.  My goal is to continue to grow as a visual artist by utilizing intuition and my study of psychology to portray relational dynamics.
